AJBH: a KAÜ- and DÁP-based identification system on a Liferay portal

The Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights is no stranger to the Liferay system. In 2021 they turned to the Webtown team on several occasions, as they needed not only a portal upgrade but also accessibility work, custom…
AJBH

Webtown built a Liferay-based, DÁP- and KAÜ-compatible identification system for AJBH, speeding up case processing through two-factor authentication and automatic data handling.

The Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights (AJBH) is responsible for protecting constitutional rights in Hungary, operating independently from the legislative and executive branches. The office plays a key role in protecting personal data and ensuring transparent, accessible public services for everyone.

Starting point

AJBH's goal was to provide its clients with secure and simple access to the institution's online services. With the state-wide rollout of the Digital Citizenship Program (DÁP), it became necessary to build a new, reliable identification system that complies with legal requirements and further strengthens data security.

Webtown's solution

In line with AJBH's requirements, Webtown's team retired the previous Ügyfélkapu-based login system and introduced KAÜ (Central Identification Agent) based authentication, which now also supports DÁP identification for users. Integrating the AJBH portal with the KAÜ system, developed by IdomSoft, enabled seamless data exchange and ensured compliance with legal and security requirements.

With the introduction of Ügyfélkapu+ and DÁP identification options, users can now complete two-factor authentication, significantly increasing data protection and preventing potential misuse.

How the process works

  1. Users initiate a complaint or report on AJBH's website.
  2. They complete two-factor authentication using the DÁP app or an authenticator app accepted by Ügyfélkapu+.
  3. Following successful authentication, they fill out the required case-initiation form.

Results

As a result of the development, submitting complaints, public interest reports, and whistleblower reports through the AJBH portal has become significantly simpler. Automatic data processing reduces the chance of errors and speeds up administrative processes, while ensuring the protection of personal data and compliance with legal requirements.

Through our decade-long collaboration with AJBH, we've delivered complex solutions together that serve both the institution's objectives and users' needs, contributing to the office's digital development and modernization.

Replacing the previous Ügyfélkapu-based login, the KAÜ-based system now also supports DÁP identification - with two-factor authentication and full legal compliance.
