AJBH: a WCAG-accessible Liferay portal and system integration

Webtown has worked with AJBH since 2013, supporting the institution's digital operations through WCAG accessibility, custom portlet development, and Client Gateway integration.
In 2013, we delivered our first joint Liferay-based project for AJBH (Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights), and in 2021, they once again turned to us for our expertise. The projects focused not only on portal updates, but also on accessibility, custom portlet development, and system integration.
Solution: During the 2021 collaboration, it was crucial for AJBH to ensure the Liferay system operated efficiently and stayed up to date. Alongside the portal update, we placed strong emphasis on accessibility, strictly following the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines). As a result, the portal now features high contrast ratios and is easily navigable via keyboard, serving the needs of visually impaired users as well.
On the system integration side, special attention was given to connecting the case management system with the Client Gateway service. Based on specific requirements and a client-centric approach, we developed custom portlets and integration solutions that enable efficient, coordinated operation across the various systems.
Result: We're proud of our more than decade-long collaboration with AJBH, delivering complex solutions that serve both the institution's objectives and user needs. The project was carried out in the public sector, where custom portlets, accessibility improvements, and system integration delivered measurably faster case handling and more stable day-to-day operations. Through this partnership, Webtown has also contributed to the institution's digital growth and modernization.
High contrast ratios, keyboard navigation, Client Gateway integration - AJBH's portal serves every user in line with WCAG guidelines.
