Austrian Federal Ministry of Defence

The Austrian Federal Ministry of Defence is responsible for shaping and implementing Austria’s defence policy, ensuring the security of the country and its citizens. The Ministry oversees the Austrian Armed Forces, coordinates military training, and drives advancements in defence technologies. It also plays a key role in international peacekeeping missions and regional security cooperation.

As part of this project, Webtown developed both a public-facing website and an intranet platform for the Ministry. These solutions were built on Liferay and enhanced with custom themes and configurable fragments, closely aligned with the platform’s core capabilities. Special attention was given to fine-tuning the search functionality to ensure a seamless, user-friendly, and visually appealing experience.

A primary objective throughout the project was to create intuitive and user-centric platforms with a distinctive visual identity. Leveraging Liferay’s built-in features, we developed tailored themes and reusable fragments that fully meet the Ministry’s specific requirements. By optimizing the search engine, we not only improved usability but also delivered a clean and engaging interface.

The collaboration resulted in a modern, easy-to-manage digital environment for both external and internal use. With the help of custom themes and flexible components, the Ministry’s teams can efficiently manage communication across both channels.
