The Austrian Ministry of Defence is responsible for shaping and implementing Austria's defence policy. The Ministry directs the Austrian Armed Forces, coordinates military training, and carries out developments in defence technology. It also plays a key role in international peacekeeping missions and in strengthening regional security cooperation.
The project involved a dual task: building both an external website and an intranet platform for the Ministry, featuring custom themes and tailored fragments. Both platforms are built on the core functionality of Liferay, with particular emphasis on fine-tuning the search function - a critical consideration for a public-sector organization, where internal and external communication often involves large volumes of documents and content.
Building on Liferay's native capabilities, we created themes and fragments precisely tailored to the Ministry's specific needs, while preserving the platform's stability and security reliability. The result is a web and intranet environment in which Ministry staff efficiently manage both external and internal communication tasks.
The project illustrates how well-suited Liferay is to the digitalization challenges faced by public-sector organizations with high security and reliability requirements.
