NÉBIH: a WCAG-accessible Liferay portal for everyone
Webtown made NÉBIH's portal WCAG-compliant, from contrast ratios to screen reader support.
The portal of NÉBIH (National Food Chain Safety Office) previously did not comply with the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) accessibility standards. The office needed a partner who could guide the entire accessibility process from start to finish - based on previous successful collaborations, Webtown's team was chosen for the task.
The project involved meeting a number of specific accessibility requirements. One of the key tasks was setting the correct contrast ratio, 4.5:1, which ensures text readability for users with visual impairments. The portal also had to support screen readers, so that blind and visually impaired users could access content without barriers. Another important area of development was ensuring keyboard navigation, essential for users who cannot or prefer not to use a mouse to browse the site.
As a result of the project, NÉBIH's portal became a digital platform that fully complies with WCAG guidelines and is genuinely accessible to everyone - a particularly important outcome for a public-sector organization whose portal serves a wide and diverse range of users.
From a 4.5:1 contrast ratio to screen reader support and keyboard navigation - NÉBIH's portal is now accessible to everyone.
